Integrations Big and Small, the Non-Event Hand-Over
I started my Workday career almost 5 years ago as a Certified Integration Consultant at an up-and-coming boutique firm. Although we were small, we made a significant impact on the Workday ecosystem by focusing exclusively on Workday. Our dedication and hard work were evident as we were acquired by one of the largest technology companies in the world. Although we went from small to big, we never lost sight of the importance of each client, whether they had 500 or 50,000 employees.
A key lesson I learned along the way is that the role of an Integration Consultant is consistent regardless of the size of the client or the consulting company. My job is to ensure that integrations go live on-time, within budget, and are built in a maintainable way. I absolutely cannot lose sight of the fact that after I deliver the integration, the client owns it and supports it. My integrations are built collaboratively with the client. With clear communication, frequent hands-on test cycles, and clear documentation, the integration hand-over is a non-event. My client understands how the integration works and what to do when it doesn’t. Having delivered 100+ integrations across dozens of clients big and small, I continuously fine tune my approach and have enjoyed increasing satisfaction with each go-live.
